Why a standard is needed
A standard creates a common language between buyer and manufacturer. When "Shore A 70 ±5" is stated instead of "hard rubber", both parties understand the same thing. This eliminates misunderstanding in the order and ensures stability in repeat production.
Main groups of standards
Management system standards
Standards such as ISO 9001 define not a specific product but the manufacturer's quality management system: documentation, traceability, defect management and continuous improvement.
Test method standards

Material and dimensional standards
The classification of the material (for example, hardness and durability classes) and dimensional tolerances are also regulated by standards. If the vulcanisation regime is chosen incorrectly, even a correct formulation may not deliver standard values.
